These plants are grown in the soil in the field and are lifted in the winter months with the rootball wrapped in hessian. The planting season for these is from mid October to late April. When planting you should NOT remove the hessian. The plant should be planted with the hessian around the roots - it will rot away in a month or so and does not prevent new roots emerging
