Often known as the willow-leaved pear as the leaves are narrow and slightly resemble Salix, the willow. This is an elegant tree that is suitable for small gardens. The canopy can be allowed to weep to the ground, or can be trimmed. This small tree is native to the Middle East, Turkey and South-Eastern Europe. It gained the RHS Award of Garden Merit in 2002 and is fully hardy here in the UK.
