It's been a very busy spring with beautiful ornamental cherries selling fast and proving just as popular as ever.
We have some new arrivals that look great - multi-stem Prunus cerasifera nigra, the cherry plum with dark burgundy/black leaves and very early pale pink single flowers.
May is crab apple time and recent arrivals include two lovely trees in the 3m size - Malus Brouwers Beauty an ideal tree for a small garden - has lots of buds now and fragrant flowers will follow. It grows to 5-6m ultimately and is pruneable. Another fabulous crab apple is Red Sentinel which has pink buds and white flowers now and is very popular due to it's bright red fruit in autumn that lasts well into winter - great for wildlife!
Also flowering now are Rhododendrons Hoppy, Percy Wiseman and Roseum Elegans all brightening up a rainy day in the nursery today.
As always we specialise in large specimen shrubs and this year the new red foliage of Photinia Red Robin has been particularly good.
Following the sunshine in April we now have May showers which will help new growth but don't forget to still water newly planted trees and shrubs!
We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to 4pm. Closed Sundays and Bank Holidays.
