English Woodlands offers a variety of hedge mixtures suitable for different requirements. For example, the Rural Hedge Mixture offers a convenient way to buy hedging plants at a competitive rate for agri-environment schemes such as the Higher Level Stewardship Scheme. It includes native hedging plants that are normally found in well-established hedges. Mixtures will typically include 50% Hawthorn with the remaining 50% being a mixture of 4 species from Field Maple, Hazel, Spindleberry, Blackthorn, Beech, Hornbeam, Dog Rose and Viburnum. Allow 5 to 6 plants per metre. Rabbit guards and supporting bamboo canes will normally be required.
