Cell-grown trees and shrubs provide multiple benefits when compared to bareroot or container-grown plants. They can be planted over an extended planting season for many months of the year, rather than only during the dormant season in colder weather, as applies to bareroot plants. Their roots are contained and protected by a little compost, rather than being completely bare. This minimises any drying out before planting and makes the planting process very simple. Cell grown trees have proved to enjoy a high level of successful establishment. The cost is very low, when compared to container-grown stock, and is only a little higher than bareroot plants.
